Pearls of the Kingdom 2/2/2023

After looking at the lives of Enoch and Noah I have identified one key element about their life for us to consider today, “they walked with God.”

Perhaps I am the only one who thinks this way, but I find myself asking this question, “what does this look like, “walking with God?” But I must not stop here. I must ask myself as one who claims to be a follower of Jesus, Am I, “Walking with God?”

I believe that we may have differing ideas on what this means, “Walking with God.” For today can I suggest some scriptures that I have found that may guide us, help us to answer our question, what does this look like, “Walking with God.” These scripture verses are not in any specific order.

1. Faith: Heb 11:6 “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.”

2. Obedience: 1 Sam 15:22 “But Samuel replied, “What is more pleasing to the LORD: your burnt offerings and sacrifices or your obedience to his voice? Listen! Obedience is better than sacrifice, and submission is better than offering the fat of rams.”

3. Study: 2 Tim 2:15 “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”

4. Prayer: Eph 6:18 “Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.”

5. Love: Mark 12 30-31 “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.”

6. Fear: Ps 111:10 “Fear of the LORD is the foundation of true wisdom. All who obey his commandments will grow in wisdom. Praise him forever!”

7. Humility: Micah 6:8 He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?

8. Servant: Deut 10:12 “And now, Israel, what does the LORD your God ask of you but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in obedience to him, to love him, to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul”

9. Fruitful: Col 1:10 “That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God.”

10. Good Deeds: James 2:18 “Now someone may argue, “Some people have faith; others have good deeds.” But I say, “How can you show me your faith if you don’t have good deeds? I will show you my faith by my good deeds.”

11. Trust: Prov 3:5-6 “Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do and he will show you which path to take.”

12. Guidance: Ps 32:8 “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.”

Perhaps with the start of a new year, I am evaluating “Walking with God.” Are there some areas in my life where I have drifted away, do I need to make some changes, correct my course? How are you doing? Are you, “Walking with God?”
